Description

First Separate Edition of this Atlas of the Americas, issued on the Advent of the American Revolution.

The maps and text in this atlas were first published during the French and Indian War, in Il Gazzettiere Americano, published by M. Coltenllini in Livorno in 1763. The text for that work was translated from the 1763 London American Gazeteer. Giovanni Tommaso Masi republished this section of that work in 1777, as interest in the Americas increased during the American Revolution.

The atlas includes the following maps and views:  North and South America; New England, New York and Pennsylvania; the Great Lakes; Quebec; Hudson Bay; Pensacola; St. Augustine, Florida; The West Indies and the Gulf of Mexico; Cuba; Havana; St. Domingo and Hispaniola; city plan of St. Domingo; Jamaica; Guadalupe; Martinique; Barbados; Granada; Porto Bello; Cartagena, Santa Maria and Venezuela; the city of Cartagena; San Francisco; the Amazon River; Lima; Paraguay; San Salvador; Boston harbor; New York and New Jersey harbors; Niagara Falls; Gulf of St. Lawrence; Newfoundland; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Vera Cruz; Acapulco; Yucatan; Darien; Chagres River, Panama; South America; Cusco; Santiago in Chile. And with fine views of View: Quebec; New Mexico; St. Eustatius; and Potosi.

The maps and views are by Andrea Scacciati, G.M. Terreni, Giuseppe Pazzi, D.V. Rossi, Violante Vanni and N. Mabraini.
