Description

Very rare Ruth Taylor White pictorial map of Hawaii, really four separate maps of Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii all on one sheet. This set is far rarer than her other Hawaiian maps.

The maps were completed two years after she made "The Story of Hawaii" for the Hawaii Tourist Board. This is alluded to on the cover subtitle "A new map series showing how and where to play in the islands."

These maps were made after her divorce from Leonard White, and she is billed as with her maiden name "Ruth Taylor".  There was some variability in whether she used her maiden name or not in maps produced after her divorce.

George Armitage was an author of various short works on Hawaii and its history.

Rarity

The map is quite rare; we are unable to locate it through OCLC. There is an example in the Rumsey Collection (8990). We have not seen it on the market before.
