Description

A rare map of Quebec and Montreal, from Rogers & Johnston's Atlas of the United States. The map shows the layout of the two cities including streets, neighborhoods, and other major features. Both cities are mapped on a large scale, showing towns and areas then on the periphery of the metropolitan area. The growth of both cities to the present day can be easily seen, as Montreal occupies only a small part of its namesake island and Quebec is limited to the present-day historic district.

This map shows the two great Canadian cities along the St. Lawrence River together. Both predominantly French-speaking, they share a common history slightly different from the rest of Canada. The inclusion of these two on the same map is an unsurprising choice which makes for an attractive and interesting map.
