Description

Attractive print showing the hiking trails around Nesselwang and Wertarch in the Allagäu region of Swabian Bavaria. The area is shown from an aerial viewpoint, and was likely based off early aerial photographs.

The region is one of the most attractive and rural parts of Bavaria, still popular as a winter skiing destination. The northern portion of this map (to the bottom of the image) sits on a hilly plateau, with most villages at about 1000 meters elevation. To the south, the terrain becomes more mountainous, reaching up to 1600 meters. Jungholz, an Austrian enclave within Germany, is pictured with its small ski resort.

Overall, this is an attractive portrayal of an area still considered as one of the most beautiful and traditional in German Bavaria.
