The Vacation Land That's Really Different . . .
Whimsical pictorial map of Southwestern Colorado, illustrating the regions the roads, passes, towns and major peaks.
The map is surrounded with ads for local businesses, focused on the sportsman's paradise that is Southwest Colorado.
The map spans from Nucla and Ridgway in the north, down to the 4 corners area, and east to Silverton.
Don Bloodgood's work spanned a number of regions, including California, Hawaii, Texas and Arizona, with most maps relating to tourism. His career spanned from the 1930s to the early 1960s.
As with so many of Bloodgood's pictorial maps, they weren't just decorative maps, but his maps tap into the culture and life of the region, and reveal how the area would have been experienced at the time.
