Description

Rare Texas Centennial Pictorial Map, published by the MKT Katy Lines.

The map highlights six destinations, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Galveston, San Antonio, and Fort Worth. The lively pictorial maps shows regional vignettes featuring the commerce and agriculture of Texas.

As with many pictorial maps of the period, there are a few images which reflect different attitudes toward race and culture, most notably the inclusion of the two black cotton picking characters.

The remainder of the promotional brochure is filled with pictorial and photographic images of Dallas, Ft. Worth and the interior of the Katy Lines Passenger Cars, along with colorful graphics showing the various railroad service employees, including an image of a black porter / waiter serving a turkey.
