Fine vibrantly colored example of this scarce pictorial map of Manhattan published by Macy's department store (which is prominently featured on the map) and made by Russell Patterson.
The map was intended as a promotional for those visiting during the Fair, which is shown in the lower right corner of the map. Various landmarks and points of interest for tourists are shown.
In Harlem, there is a note "Up Here for the Clubs". The Lower East Side is termed "Ghetto". Greenwich Village sports artists painting on an easel: "This is to be my masterpiece." Nightlife and nightclubs are the main focus.
The map includes vignettes of Broadway, Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty, and Fifth Avenue.
