Description
Rare separately published map of the central Sierra Nevada mountains, drawn by Joseph LeConte and lithographed by W.B. Walkup in San Francisco.
The map extends from Owens Lake in the north to above Mono Lake and west to the Central Valley.
The map is packed with detail including mountain peaks, drainage, railroads, roads, canals, and more.
Inset maps include:
- Yosemite Valley
- Hetch Hetchy Valley (now a reservoir).
This is the Sierra Club's second map, updating its map of the Sierra Nevada Mountains issued in 1893.
Rarity
The map is very rare on the market. We note only 2 examples at auction in the past 30 years.

Printed on fine banknote-style paper and folds into brown paper wrappers (4.5 x 10").
