Description

Fine example of this highly important and detailed map of Captain R.B. Marcy's exploration route in search of the source of the Red River, based upon the report of the expedition undertaken under Marcy's command in 1852.

The map extends from the Waco and Wichita Villages and the confluence of the Big and Little Wichita Rivers with the Red River in the West, to the Llano Estacado, tracing the routes of the Red River and the North Fork of the Red River. Includes dates showing the daily progress along with a number of notes, place names, topographical details, etc.

The Route of the Train to Preston and the part of the Ft. Smith to Santa Fe Road are noted.
