Description

Important map of the American West, compiled by Samuel Engel and advancing centuries-old inaccuracies in that region's mapping.

The primary map is focused on the Northeast Coast of Asia, while the three of the our smaller maps illustrate different configurations of California, all drawn from 16th Century maps (for example Cornelis Wytfliet), along with Wytfliet's depiction of the "Conibas" region described by Acosta (Canada/Great Lakes region at the end of the 16th Century).

The map is quite scarce on the market. This is the first example we have ever offered for sale.
