Description

Attractive Vintage Pictorial Map of Minnesota, Featuring the State's Local Fish, Livestock, and Agriculture.

This Depression-era map illustrates the advantages of living in the great state of Minnesota, trying to encourage more people to move there. Lists various facts, from "source of the Mississippi River" to "third state in turkey production." Of course, one of the main focuses of the map is on the great fishing opportunities in the state: fourteen species of fish are shown and all the great fishing lakes portrayed. The map also shows the various industries of the state, from livestock to mining.

The verso has numerous photo views and essays promoting the state, including a letter from Governor Olsen to "everybody seeking happiness."

This map was issued by the Minnesota Tourist Bureau in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Highways. The date can be estimated based on Governor Floyd B. Olson's tenure of 1931-1936.
