California through San Diego "invites the World"
Fantastic vintage bird's eye view map of Los Angeles, featuring the downtown area magnified by a giant magnifying glass, and, on the verso, a map of Southern California promoting the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935-36.
The map was produced with the idea that the California Pacific International Exposition in Balboa Park, San Diego, would result in overflow tourism to Los Angeles.
The unusual pictorial device of having the center of LA highlighted by a giant magnifying glass set this map apart from others of the era.
A highly unusual California view.
Rare. This being the first example we have handled and the only we can trace.
