Description

Scarce map of Texas, illustrating a proposal to connect the San Bernard and Brazos rivers as part of a plan by the Army Engineers to expand the navigation of Texas rivers around 1900.

The map covers eastern Texas from Sabine Pass south to Brownsville and inland to Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. It is color-coded to indicate those channels that are navigable by light craft (blue) and those channels that are not (red).

Produced by the Army Engineers to recommend improvements for navigation along the coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande to Sabine Pass.
