Nice example of Gast's early birdseye views Salt Lake City, Utah, with original pamphlet.
A fine, highly detailed bird's eye view of the city with insets showing City Hall and Fort Douglas. One of the more interesting elements of the view is the prominent display of Anderson's Tower (top center). Built to entice tourists and residents to travel to the foothills of Salt Lake City to climb the tower and pay for a commanding view of the City, the tower became known as Anderson's Folly, because most people simply enjoyed the view from the hill on which the tower was built.
The view was included in S.W. Darke's Salt Lake City Illustrated, published in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1887, which iis present with this example. 104 pages, profusely illustrated with full and half page images and advertising. 12 inches x 9.5 inches.
