Description

Nice example of Rizzi Zannoni's fine map of the region around Naples, engraved by Giuseppe Guerra and published in Naples in 1793.

The map is centered on the town of Naples and extends east to show all of Mount Vesuvius north to just beyond Lago di Patria, Aversa and the Parco regionale del Partenio,  and along the coastline to Torre Annunziata and Monte Procida.

The map is a marvelous blend of engraving artistry and topographical detail, capturing the rugged topography region around Naples.

The cartouche includes an elaborate scene including Mount Vesuvius and the rugged coastline, with a scene paying tribute to its earlier history.
