The map legend includes a table giving the names and symbols for locating the 40 railroads, along with the names of the "Concesionarios" operating each of the lines. 

Many of the lines were run by Mexican States and the Federal Government of Mexico, but some note private operators, including:

  • General Ulises S. Grant
  • Horncastle
  • General John B. Frisbie
  • Palmer and Sullivan
  • Robert R. Symon

The map notes that the Mexican Railway system joined the US System ant Piedras Negras  and Paso del Norte.
