Description

Whimsical promotional map, prepared in connection with two legs of the 1954 Tour de France, extending from Millau to Le Puy (July 23 - 197 km) and Le Puy to Lyon (July 24 - 194 km).

Both stages shown were mountain stages, with the change in elevation along the route illustrated at the far right.  Dominique Forlini was the winner of the Millau to Le Puy stage.  Jean Forestier was the winner of the Le Puy to Lyon stage.  The overall winner was Louison Bobet, the second of three consecutive Tour victories for Bobet (1953-1955). 

This was the second year of the Green Jersey -- Points Classification.  Ferdinand Kubler won the Points Classification.  

Prunelle du Velay was a famous liqueur of the period.  Le Quotidien de la Haute-Loire was a regional newspaper.

Condition Description
Losses at top and bottom right corners. Fold weakness. Several repaired tears.
