Description

Fine regional map of the area around New Orleans and the Mississippi River, issued in A.L. Latour's Atlas ot the HIstorical Memoir of the War in West Florida and Louisiana.

In addition to battle details, the map provides a meticulous accounting of the plantations along the Mississippi River, from Belle Chase to New Orleans.

The map illustrates the route taken by the invading British force from Lake Borgne, along Bayous Catalan (Bienvenue) and Mazant to the Villeré Canal, as they approached New Orleans from downriver. The city is shown, along with different encampments and fortifications. The old Chef Menteur trail is also shown, as well as the approach to the city via Bayou St. John.
