Description

Rare US Navy Hydrographical Chart of Southeastern Oahu (Pearl Harbor to Diamond Head and Kaneohe Bay)

Extremely rare US Navy Hydrographical Chart of the southeastern part of Oahu, published during the Spanish American War.

The chart provides a meticulously detailed image of the island from Barber's Point and the Nanakuli area in the west to Makapuu and Diamond Head in the east and Kaneohe Bay in the north east.

The present example notes that it is "corrected to June 27, 1899, the date of issue from the Hydrographic Office."

The present chart is exceptionally detailed, with both coastal features and topographical details in the interior, including roads, the Oahu Railroad (both around Pearl Harbor and in the Honolulu area) Tramway to Quarantine Island, and the Tramway from Sugar House to the Mill near Waimanalo.

Many other buildings located, including the Prison and Leper Asylum.

An exceptionally detailed chart, one of the earliest detailed maps of the region.
