Shanghai in 1923 With New Roads Added in Manuscript (Red Ink)

Fine large format map of Shanghai, published by the Shanghai Municipal Council.

Additional roads are added in red manuscript in the Tianshan Road Residential District.

The additional roads include:

  • Monument Road
  • Pearce Road
  • Lincoln Avenue
  • MacLeod Road
  • Jernigan Road
  • Fraser Road
  • Keswick Road
  • Columbia Road
  • Jordan Avenue
  • Fawwah Road
  • Tunsin Road

The roads were apparently added by an early Urban Planner, as each of the roads was in fact constructed.

The map is quite scarce on the market. OCLC locates only the examples in the Library of Congress, British Library, Harvard and the American Geographical Society.
