Description

Nice example of Theodore Rowland and Walter S. Fortiner's map of Portland, Oregon, published in 1909.

The map of Portland extends to Vancouver in the north and to Milwaukie and Abernethy Heights in the south, exhibiting the rapid growth of Portland in the first decade of the 20th Century, when the population more than doubled from 90,000 to 207,000.

Includes a detailed map of the Fairmount Addition to Portland on the verso, as illustrated. It would appear that the Fairmount Addition was never completed, as it should be just south of St. Johns Bridge, with Helens (NW St. Helens) Road shown on the main map.

Rarity

Rowland & Fortiner's map was published between about 1908 and 1911. OCLC locates only a single copy of the map with the Fairmount Addition map on the verso.
