Scarce map of the United States, which includes a number of marvelous ephemeral territorial borders in the Transmississippi West. Washington and Oregon extend to the Rocky Mountains. Nebraska extends west to the Rockies and North to Canada. Kansas extends from Missouri to the Rocky Mountains. Utah and New Mexico extend from California to and beyond the Rocky Mountains. Both pre- and post-Gadsden borders are shown. Alaska is Russian America.
From Morse's rare Atlas of the United States, the last major production by the Morse Family, dating back to Jedidiah Morse's publications in the late 18th Century.
