Rare separately issued map of California, published for the California-Paris Exposition of 1900.
This is one of 6 maps published by the Commission, this particular example focusing on the Timber Districts in California, with text in English, French and German.
The Exposition Universelle of 1900 was a world's fair held in Paris, France, from April 14 to November 12, 1900, to celebrate the achievements of the past century and to accelerate development into the next.
Each map has the identical large chromolithographic map of California. On the right side (where Nevada would be) is a smaller thematic map showing the theme of each map. These are Agricultural Districts; Oil and Petroleum Districts; Climatic Map; Mineral Districts; Forestry Districts and Viticulture.
The maps are very rare. We locate only an example in the collection at the Huntington Library.
