Description:

Scarce "N H. Parker" Corrected Edition of Colton's Map of Minnesota Territory.

Interesting early map of Minnesota Territory, prior to the conception of the Dacotah Territory. Minnesota is still dominated in the North by massive counties, including Lake, St. Louis, Itasca and Pembina County, which shows as including most of Dacotah.

The Southwestern quadrant is unnamed, but apparently Yankton Country. The map includes extensive annotations, especially in the West, including the proposed route of the Northern Pacific. Includes Railroads, Common Roads, Canals, villages, post offices, etc. One of the best early maps of Minneota.

JH Colton was one of the pre-eminent American map publishing firms in the mid-19th Century.
