Fascinating map of England and Wales, focusing on the distances between cities and market towns (large and small) at the end of the 17th Century, based upon John Adams straight line distance map of England and Wales.
A dedication to William III (Guilielmo III) appears below the title cartouche. Prior editions bear an inscription to the James II.
The map was published by Visscher, but includes a note that it was available for sale in London through John Overton, at the White Horse without Newgate. An interesting and unusual collaborative effort for the period.
The present example includes two additional text panels on the sides, with an index of the cities and market towns in England and Wales. Examples with the extra panels are rare on the market.
