Description

Fine old color separately issued example of the Michelot-Bremond 2-sheet chart of the Mediterranean Coast, from Catalonia to the mouth of the Tiber River in Italy, showing most of Corsica and the island of Elba, with 6 large insets.

A fine old color example of this scarce chart of the northwestern Mediterranean, with insets of several major harbors, one of 16 charts in Henri Michelot and Laurent Bremond's]Carte Generalle dele Mer Mediterranee, which was published along with their work depicting the ports of the Mediterranean, with an English translation in 1725.

The work is exceptionally detailed and also demonstrates the skill of the engraver, Peter Starckmann, who was then one of the most sought after map engravers of the period.
