Description
Gorgeous large highly detailed map of Southeast Asia, the Himalayas and India proper. The extenisve road system of India is shown, along with the dramatic topography of Nepal and Boutan. Indochina is, by contrast, nearly devoid of roads and interior details, owing to the limited knowledge of the interior regions of Birmans, Siam, Annam, Camboge, etc. Despite the relative lack of knowledge, there are roads and trade routes shown traversing Indochina. A little extra creasing near the centerfold, else A very nice example. Decorative swash letter title. Dufour's Atlas Universel was one of the great large format French atlases of the mid 19th Century.
