Description

Nice map of NV & CA, colored by county. Shows towns, railroads, roads, rivers, mountains, dry lakes, Indian Tribes, etc. Decorative border. Slight waterstain to right side of map. HH Lloyd's Atlas of the United States was never issued separately, appearing only as a licensed work in various editions of Warner & Beers County Atlases in the early 1870s. It is a shame Lloyd's work was not more successful, as in many respects the detail and engraving work surpasses dramatically the contemporary work by Mitchell, Johnson, Colton and Gray. This map shows tremendous topographical detail. A number of mountains are named and the detailed in the Sierras rivals the fine detail of maps by Stieler. A gorgeous example of this increasingly scarce map.
