Decorative map of North America, issued shortly before the start of the Revolutionary War.
The map shows the British Colonies in North America extending to the Mississippi RIver. The area above Lake Superior is "Gr. Space Unknown."
Along the West Coast of North America, the Sea of the West and River of the West are hinted at, but not in any great detail. New Albion, Teguayo and Quivira all appear, as does the Harbor where Sir Francis Drake landed, and the apocryphal discoveries of Juan de La Fuca and Martin Augilar.
To the north, the Russian discoveries of Tchirikow (1741) and Behring (1741) are noted, with no sign yet of Cook's discoveries in the region.
