Description

Finely executed 17th Century map of Rome, engraved in Rome by Antonio Barbey and published by Domenico de Rossi.

Includes an elegant banner cartouche and coat of arms at the top, with an extensive key, locating nearly 500 places of interest in the Eternal City.

The map is oriented with northeast at the top and includes both ancient and modern sites.

The plan is scarce on the market, this being the first example we have owned in 20 years.

Condition Description
Two sheets, joined. One tear at lower center, expertly repaired on verso. Some marginal soiling.
