Nice example of Stephen Long's map of Canada, from the French edition of Voyages and Travels of an Indian Interpreter and Trader . . . first published in London in 1791.
The map provides a nice contemporary treatment of the region from the Great Lakes to Hudson's Bay, illustrating the "Territoires de la Compagnie de la Baye D'Hudson" (Lands of the Hudson's Bay Company).
The map shows Fort Detroit, Fort S. Joseph, Ft. Niagara, Fort Frontenac ou Cataragni, the Potowatamie Village south of Lake Michigan, Ville de Winnebago, Ville Monomony, Ville de Sangier and a number of other Indian placenames.
