Rare set of 3 maps of the District of Columbia, illustrating the highway systems in and around the capital at the end of the 19th Century.

The titles for the 3 sections are:

  • Highway Extenion Plan of The District of Columbia -- First Section
  • Permanent System of Highways. Section Section. District of Columbia. March 1898.
  • Third Section. Permanent System of Highways, District of Columbia. October 1897.

The maps are of the utmost rarity. We find the maps referenced in Bibliography of the District of Columbia by Wilhemus Bogart Bryan (1900) and List of Maps and Views of Washington and District of Columbia in the Library of Congress (1900).
