Description

Scarce early map naming the Republic of Texas, which appeared in Niles & Pease's History of Mexico & Texas.

The map shows an early configuration of the Republic, with a number of settlements shown, including Houston, Washington, Galveston, S. Augustine, Nacogdoches, Terrail, Zavala, Liberty, Gonzales, Mina, Montezuma, San Antonio, Goliad, Rio Grande, Laredo, Revilla, Mission of Refugio, San Felipe, New Washington, Bolivar, Columbia, Victoria, Matagorda, Valasco, Harrisburg, Lynchburg and others.

Maps that name the Republic of Texas are very rare. This is perhaps the earliest such map.
