Description

Rare early variant of Perrine's first separately issued map of the southern states, published in Indianapolis by Perrine in 1862.

The map provides a crude but striking depiction of the southern United States, with an inset map of Florida.

The map is not to be confused with Perrine's New Topographical War Map of the South, published in 1864, which is far more common on the market.

The present map is apparently a rare early variant, as the few recorded examples of the map reflect the title of the map as Perrine's New Military Map Illustrating the Seat of War
