Description
Fine example of Professor Heinrich Keipert's 9 sheet map of Europe, published in Berlin.
Kiepert was one of the more important scholarly cartographers of the second half of the 19th century. He served as the chief of the Geographisches Institut in Weimar between 1845 - 1852 and professor at the University of Berlin from 1852.
The present example is the second and enlarged edition (first edition was issued1873). Only two examples of this map are known in libraties (British Library) and no complete set has been recorded on the market in the past decades.
Condition Description
Dissected and laid on linen. Minor flaws along decorative borders, else fine.
