Description

Rare separately issued map of the United States, reflecting an early collaboration between the New York publishers H.H. Lloyd & Co. and Schonberg & Co.

The map is colored by counties and extends west to include Dakota, and early depiction of Nebraska (pre-dating the creation of Wyoming Territory), Indian Territory, Kansas and Texas. The western most parts of New Mexico are shown, including a strip of Arizona, depicted in its first configuration as a prospective Southern Territory, below New Mexico.

The map includes a large inset of Florida and another inset of the Western United States, with Idaho now shown in a massive Territorial configuration and Arizona properly located to the west of New Mexico, suggesting that there may have been an earlier edition of this map which we have not located.

The map is quite rare on the market. We locate no examples at auction or in dealer catalogs in the past 30 years.
