Decorative example of Van Keulen's unique sea chrt of the Caribbean and contiguous parts of the East and Gulf Coasts of America, from his Zee-Fakkel, first published in Amsterdam in 1684.
Van Keulen's chart is one of the most decorative sea charts of the 17th Century. The coastline of the Western Atlantic Ocean is shown from Canada to Venezuela, locating hundreds of place names. West is oriented at the top, placing Cuba and Florida at the center of the chart.
Van Keulen's general sea chart of the Northwest Atlantic serves as a key map of sorts for the remainder of his North and Central American maps in his Zee-Fakkel.
A fine wide margined example of this scarce chart.
