Description

Rare separately issued map of the town of East Riverside, originally published in 1886.

The present example was prepared circa 1890 for the engineers of the Southern Pacific Railroad and includes ad number annotations by an early engineer.

The map shows the Riverside, Santa Ana & Los Angeles Railroad Line and its depot lines, along with an early canal (for irrigation).

The town of East Riverside was located just northeast of the modern University of California at Riverside Campus, approximately half way between Riverside and San Bernardino, prior to the creation of Riverside County, in March 1893.
