Description
A gorgeous large format map of the Western US from a revised edition of Kiepert's Neuer Atlas.
Wheat refers to this map as a charming map…of suprising worth, but goes on to lament its lack of trails and railroad routes. Remarkably, the revised edition includes both. It is easy to see why Wheat found the map most appealing. The map includes striking & highly accurate topographical features, extensive details on Forts, Indians, Mountains, Rivers, and all sorts of other early information. In this regard, the map is the equal, if not superior, to most contemporary American Atlas maps.
A scarce map of the west, made more desirable by its being unknown to Wheat and answering Wheat's critique of the 1857 edition.
