Interesting pair of maps and letter, reflecting a solicitation by Fred S. Rogers, for an oil royalty investment in the Kettleman Hills Oil Field by A.L.Gump of San Francisco.
The Kettleman Hills oil fields were located in Fresno and Kings County.
Mr A L Gump was then the President of Gump's luxury department and gift store in San Francisco.
The smaller map titled Map of North Dome Kettleman Hills Oil Field Oil Royalty Exchange is dated July 1931, the larger map is not titled or dated but is from the same era. It shows the real estate sections for Kettleman Domes and the area to the east and south of the Kettleman Hills in Kern and San Luis Obispo counties, and shows two sections colored in yellow and labeled S&G Gump Co. and has some notes in red ink - one of the notes reads "Standard Oil Co. Alferitz #1".
The map also has a penciled note on back that reads "Map received from Geo Rye's brother".
