Description

Fascinating set of studies of the lines of the Southern Pacific Railroad and Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad, for proposed joint use of railroad lines between the companies.

The lines of the Southern Pacific RR are shown in red. The lines of the Los Angeles & Salt Lake RR are shown in black. The lines of the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad are shown in a dashed yellow and green, with a dashed black line showing the proposed route headed south from Riverside.

At the top right of the map, the swithicing station in Colton is shown, much as it exists to day. Across the top, smaller models of the LA Shops, Cudahy,Pomona and Ontario switche are also shown.

Along the bottom, two elevation profile models show the grade fro Los Angeles to Colton for each of the lines. A fascinating bit of early Southern California Railroadiana.
