Description

Scarce pocket map of Colorado, first printed in 1902 and reissued in 1904.

The map is colored by counties and shows two numbered districts, plus a larger circle around Greeley, Colorado, the location William Mayher, whose name is stencilled onto the top of the map.

William Mayher came to Greeley in 1885 from Northampton, Mass. He was prominent in local business activities, and served as the mayor of Greeley in 1911-1912.

Mayher operated the William Mayher Lumber Company, which was incorporated in November 1908. Along with lumber, the company supplied lime, cement and coal. Mayher also served as the superintendent of the first electric light plant in Greeley, director of local banks at various times (including the First National Bank), and the president of the Greeley Ice & Storage Company.
