Description
Very rare birdseye view of Venice, with a key locating 56 churches and other buildings and two columns of text (Latin and German) below the view and an ornate allegorical scene, with title banner held aloft by 2 cherubs.
Striking view of Venice, originally drawn by Werner and published by Engelbrecht in Augsburg. In the foreground, there is a large figural vignette depicting a number of Cherubs, a seated female figure wearing a laurel garland, a gondolier, and two Venetian nobles.
Engelbrecht also published a smaller view with the same title (a little less than one-half the size of this view).
Condition Description
Minor staining at upper and lower margin, just affecting text.
