Description

Fine example of this early view of Los Angeles, showing a tiny Alta California Pueblo, in the decade after the Mexican War.

The view, which is generally considered the earliest obtainable printed view of Los Angeles, accompanied Volume V of the Reports of Explorations and Surveys To Ascertain The Most Practicable and Economical Route For A Railroad From The Mississippi River To the Pacific Ocean, which was conducted by the Secretary of War.
