Description
Rare large pocket map of California, lithographed by Britton and Rey and sold by Hooper & Berner of San Francisco.
A pastedown advertisement on the front inside cover refers to Hooper & Berner as Map Publishers & Mounters, and advertises a series of "Indexed Maps of Pacific Coast," including maps of th Pacific Coast, Northwest, Bay Counties of San Francisco, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and Puget Sound, all of which are very rare.
Relief shown by hachures and spot heights. Shows drainage, counties, railroads (completed and proposed), roads, Indian reservations, township and range lines, etc. Extensive index in upper right. OCLC locates only 3 examples, two 1894 and one 1895 edition.
Condition Description
Pocket map, folding into original gilt-lettered stiff black paper covers. Some rubbing to covers; a few minor splits to map and some minor soiling and foxing.
