The Siege of Lille was one of the major battles of 1708, during the War of the Spanish Succession. The French garrison survived attack for 120 days berore surrendering the city and citadel of Lille. The French were commanded by Marshal Boufflers/ The opposition forces were led by the Duke of Marlborough and Prince Eugene.

The map shows the fortified walls and elaborate lines and and batteries of the two combatants.
