Description

Rare decorative lithograph showing a Mexican warrior, defending his wife (described in the illustration as his most precious possession).

This finely engraved lithograph was publishe by L. Turgis, one of Paris's leading decorative print engravers during the mid 19th Century. The imagery is quite fascinating, especially the depiction of the "Mexican," which appears to be an Indian. The stylized headress and abundance of gold fabric are noteworthy.

The view is apparently quite rare. We were not able to locate another example in OCLC or any other on line database.

Condition Description
Small abrasion near the shoulder of the male Indian, not detracting from the overall image.
