Description

Rare decorative lithograph showing a native American and a young Spanish woman, in a fascinating idealized scene of California.

This finely engraved lithograph was publishe by L. Turgis, one of Paris's leading decorative print engravers during the mid 19th Century. The imagery is quite fascinating, especially the depiction of the native California Indian, whose clothing and weaponry are much more reminiscent of the Middle East or Indian subcontinent.

The view is apparently quite rare. We were not able to locate another example in OCLC or any other on line database.
