Description

Rare map of the United States, which appeared Carl Glaser's Vollständiger Atlas über alle Theile der Erde, a very rare German Atlas published in Darmstadt between about 1836 and 1840 by Frommann.

The map includes a number of interesting features, including the depiction of the Sioux District, Mandan District, Osage District and Ozark Districts as separate American States, a 54-40 or fight Oregon Territorial boundary, a clear depiction of California's mythical river (here named Timpanagos and Buenaventura), flowing into the Timpanagos See and Teguayo See respectfully and a curious naming of Tamaulipas Texas.

Castle Rock is noted, as are a number of settlements on the eastern shore of Lake Timpanagos (future Salt Lake). The missions of Upper California, Arizona and Utah can also be seen.

The map is very rare, this being the first time we have ever seen the map (and never the complete atlas).
