Description
Scarce sea chart of the Harbor of New York City and Environs, which appeared in the last 3 editions of the English Pilot, Book IV(1783-1794).
The map extens from Sandy Hook Bay to New York Island, centered on Staten Island and the Narrows. Uncommon and important chart of New York Harbor updated to show many new shoals, channels, soundings, navigational sighting, and landmarks. The map replaced Mark Tidemann's chart of the harbor.
The map is now scarce in the market. We note no examples in dealer catalogues for more than 10 years.
